How to become a better version of yourself in 2021

How to become a better version of yourself in 2021

2021 is finally here and it is time to put 2020 in the past. However, we will never forget the past year and it has taught us a lot about the world and the importance of the small things in life. A new year often comes with new opportunities. Even though COVID-19 is still a part of our daily life, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Why not use the last time before the vaccine is in force and our lifes is a bit back to normal, to improve yourself?

Re-evaluate your friendships

It's important to have people in your life that are nurturing, motivating, supportive and caring. We have had a 2020 where we haven't been seeing our friends as much as before. Maybe some have only met a handful of friends the whole year. One thing the year has taught us is that we should value our close friends and family.

So, in 2021 it's time to re-evaluate your friendships. Bad relationships tend to be competitive, undermining, and full of conflict, which is not healthy. Staying in a toxic relationship could be draining and affect your general happiness. That's why you should take care of your good relationships, friends and family. Not only will it make you a better person but it will also give you more energy to be in a good atmosphere.

Learn a new skill

It has been a time with a lot of challenges, and 2020 might have crushed your motivation. Learning a new skill, no matter big or small, would give you a feeling of accomplishment. The skill does not need to be something huge, complicated or important. It can be as simple as starting to cook a certain cuisine, looking at some online courses or learning to play chess.

By time you will become more confident about your new skill. It will make you happier and what if the new skill can help you in life or help you earn more?

Set goals

Setting goals will help you stay on track and procrastinate less. Take time to think about your goals and write them down in a list. The goals do not need to be extreme, have some achievable goals as well as some which is harder to reach so you have something to work hard to reach. The small goals will help you gain motivation to reach your bigger goals. The goals will give you direction and keep you moving forward.

Accept that you have flaws

How can you improve if you don't accept the fact that you have flaws like any other person? Admitting your flaws or weaknesses will give you room for improvement. And we all know that no one is perfect. By accepting the flaws you are also more true to yourself as well as it will make you see things from the right perspective.

Be kind and perform acts of kindness

We all appreciate kind people. Acts of kindness don't just benefit you, it benefits others as well. Maybe you would make someone's day by smiling at them, holding the door or simply say thank you to the cashier lady. If you keep performing these acts and make it a habit, it will help you enjoy life more. Who doesn't want to enjoy life more?

Leave your comfort zone

One way to improve oneself is to leave the comfortable habits behind and try something new. Are you scared of spiders, go touch a spider, do you get nervous when meeting new people, go meet new people and so on. This can help you tons when you try to improve yourself. Discomfort can lead to a continuous self improvement.

What will you do to improve yourself this year?
