Beach season is here! And why not go to some of the many beaches Hong Kong have to offer? As Hong Kong is surrounded by water, it is a paradise for finding both hidden and public big beaches. The beaches in Hong Kong often have nice facilities like changing rooms, showers and toilets to make the experience better for everyone! And of course, the transportation is convenient too! We have made a list of different beaches all over Hong Kong for you to explore this summer!
Clearwater Bay
If you want to try out some beaches at the Southeast side of New Territories, Clearwater Bay is a must! Famous for its clear water and beautiful beach and surroundings. There is one beach named Clearwater Beach First and one named Clearwater Beach Second.
Facilities: Public toilet, shower, changing rooms, kiosk, lifeguard
How to get there: Take bus 91 and 91A fro Diamond Hill and 91R from Tseun Kwan O, Taxi or minibus
Shek O Beach and Shek O Back Beach
The village of Shek O have two beaches, the one more famous is Shek O Beach and the one less famous and less glamorous is Shek O Back Beach. However, they are located very closely and easy to find when arriving Shek O. The main beach is bigger, have life guards, sunbeds, umberellas and the classic facilities like toilets, showers and changing rooms. However, the back beach have a bar at the beach, and who dosnt like that? Both are located close to restaurants and shops, so if you are not sure which one to try out, why not check them both?
Facilities: Toilets, changing room, showers, lockers (in the shops around the beach), lifeguards, restaurants, shops, kiosks
How to get there: Travel to Shau Kei Wan MTR Station then hop on the bus number 9 or the red minibus A3.
Lung Mei Beach
A new beach in Tai Po have appeared! Its a new man-mad beach, reaching 200m, maybe not the biggest beach but deficiently look appealing! It is located in the popular cycling destination Tai Mei Tuk. The beach is placed perfectly for a day-trip away, from mid-day to sunset before having dinner at some of the restaurants around, or maybe even bbq!
Facilities: Public toilets, changing rooms, showers, life guard, restaurants, cafes and kiosk
How to get there: Take bus 75K and 275R (only on Sundays and public holidays) or green light buss 20C from Tai Po Market
Long Ke Wo
If you want to travel, but covid made it difficult, this is your next go to place! A small hidden beach that look like some paradise not in Hong Kong. With clear water, and less people, you will feel like you are on holiday. Relax away from the city and enjoy the nature. And maybe have a photo shoot?
Facilities: Not much facilities here
How to get there: Take taxi from Sai Kung Town to the East Dam of High Island Reservoir and from there you have to walk for about 20 minutes.
Big Wave Beach
This beach is located close to the Shek O beaches, however it has more of a surfer vibe. Than other beaches, mostly because of the bigger waves. Even though the waves is smaller than international standards, the waves is good for beginners! And there is lots stalls where you can rent umbrella and several places to get some food in your belly.

How to get there: Travel to Shau Kei Want MTR Station and take bus number 9 from the buss station
Cheung Sha Beach
This beach have one upper and one lower part. The beach is 3km long and therefor plenty of space! There is also lots of restaurants and cafes along the beach! Perfect for a day out and for you to imagine you are in some exotic country on holiday, and who dont want that right?
Facilities: Showers, changing rooms, toilets, lifeguard service, many restaurants, water sports rentals
How to get there: Ferry from Central Pier 6 to Mui Wo, then bus number 1, 2 or 4. From Tung Chung take buss number 11 or 23.
Repulse Bay
Repulse Bay is one of the most famous beaches in Hong Kong! It's famous for its size, clean water and white sand. The beach is located in the south of Hong Kong Island and in a high-end residential area which gives a feeling of being at a resort. There is lots of restaurants, shops and cafes located next to the beach which make it a perfect place to chill the whole day.
Facilities: Toilet, changing room, showers, life guard post, restaurants, supermarkets, mall
How to get there: From Hong Kong MTR you can take bus 6, 6A, 6X, 66 or 260, or take light bus from Causeway Bay
Ham Tim Wan
Hidden away from the busy city is Ham Tim Wan. A beach and camp site that can only be reached by hiking. This is an amazing hike as the scenery is beautiful and after the hike you can cool of in the water. Perfect for a whole day outside!
Facilities: Pubilc toilet, camp site, restaurant
How to get there: Get to Sai Wan pavilion from Sai Kung Town and hike for about 1,5 hour.
